just bought the game, now i have a few questions

Hi

just got the game, and as with every game i have some questions that i could not figure out.

is there any sort of mechanism that records friends/enemys apart from when you are on a mission, I mean enemies from the beggining will they always fire on you whenever they can? or by firing on their enemys do they become your friends....

and also question on buying and selling excluding comodities. does everything always sell for the price, and you buy everything the same on any planet, or base?

when you sell ships to upgrade, do you always get half vaue back?

I think that is all for now!

You always get half value back for ship upgrades.

Enemies are marked with red triangles on your smaller radar map (press R). They're also the ones that will fire on you. In the stock game, enemies will always be enemeies, but you can make friends attack you temporarly by shooting them. They're dot will turn red and they'll attack.

Apart from commodities, in the stock game things will always buy sell for the same price IF you're at the same race's planet.

another question...

when you enter a sector, are the enemies randomly spawned? or are the same ones in the same sector

I was wondering this because can i go in to a sector, kil some enemies and then exit and come back?

Thanks

Depends. Some are specific to each map (and will stay dead if you kill them) others- actually most- are randomly generated every time you enter.

ok, another few questions now!

and thanks for your help so far

Are plasma missiles better than capital ship missiles? from what i have seen, by far they do more damage, cheaper, and have higher range am i mistaken or is this true?

When you upgrade the ship, I kow it comes with rubbish gear, but whe you max it out, can its max speed be the same? I personally dot use the side weapos much, my stratagy is to go behind and fire like hell, for this I like the idea of the carrier as it provides more space, the only downside i see is the turning rate ad the speed, (i havent purchased yet... need a ittle more cash!) anyway, as long as use the same egies all over, can it go as fast as the other ships? ad if i get items that improve the rate of turn, i guess this can be done

Thaks

sorry, getting tired and i appoligise for spellings and if i havent explained vvery well

You can change repair priorities but I've never done it. To change weapon Groups open your ship display then mouse over the weapon and press 1, 2,3, or 4 to assign it to the first, second, third or forth weapon Groups.

The stats for the weapons are just as you seem them, aside from things like shot speed which aren't displayed. In stock I think all torps have the same slow speed though.

You can improve the turn and acceleration rates with Afterburners and Manauvering thrusters, and your general speed with better engines.

Be aware that each ship has a different max speed, though. Destroyers have 1000, for example; adding more engines once you've done that speed is useless.

Actually, its not quite useless.
The extra engines beyond your max speed will still help by acting as backups when you take damage.

Yes they are just like SE4, Though there are weapons that can pierce all shields. If it says it can pierce shields, then it means all shields. If it says it can pierce normal shields, then it means phased shields will stop it.
