Yes I checked the info thread....Demo still dont work.

I tried updating my sound drivers...it runs through it, and SF demo still doesn't work...same problem with the crash after loading level. I check out the driver properties...and it says it is still a driver from 7/01/2001. I uninstall that and do a reboot. I try and install new drivers...and still it gives me the same thing...any ideas...Yes I have XP home. P4/1.7 256 Ram...SBLIVE Value...its is very agrravating...

Thanks,

Kana

hmmm, I think you may need to uninstall your existing sblive drivers then install the new ones.

at SB Drivers you select the following..

Soundbalster, 16 bit, Sound BLaster Live! Value.
File type= Driver
language (english is default)
OS, (Windows XP is default for me.)

click 'GO' and you should be sent to the driver download page.

There is a driver 'Patch' and a LiveDrvUni-Pack. You can try the patch first, but I would reccomend that you install the uni-pak first.

These drivers are dated 28 Feb 2003. They are the most recent ones available.

I hope this info helps, Cheers!

I've tried that...have that new driver as well. Every time I uninstall the old driver...it seems to somehow reinstall itself.

I uninstall the old driver. Then run the new driver .exe file...it says it installs...but in the end...it's still new old driver...I just don't get it...and believe me I think I have tried everything...even editing the registry to remove the old driver...didn't work...

ARRGG!!!!!!!

If you go to the control panel->system->device manager, you can find your sound card and disable it. Then reboot and run Starfury, see if you still have the problem. If you don't it might not be your sound..

Re: Yes I checked the info thread....Demo still dont work.

I'm sorry to hear that the new drivers are not installing properly for you. But you won't be the first to have problems with the SBLiveValue. I used to have the same card and recently upgraded to a SB Audigy Gamer and I haven't had any problems since. My SBLive Value would sometimes cause some of my games to exit to desktop without warning. I haven't had any problems since upgrading. But changing your soundcard is a drastic solution. I happen to have got a great deal for the Audigy card when I upgraded my RAM. It was the Last one in the store and they sold it to me for less than half the sticker price.

Oh well, I hope you find a solution to your problem.

Have a good day.
