Success Factor
 
Someone already posted a topic about prestige points gained from sphereworlds and such. I like that idea and wish to see it. I also think that the size of your fleets and the victorys that they have had should effect diplomacy with other races. If you have a massive fleet that has had many victorys, then other races should be more interested in keeping good diplomatic relations with you for fear of being attacked by your fleet. If your've defeated other races then that should also affect your prestiege. The bigger and badder and the more experienced your empire is, the less likely other empires are to want to fight you. Wandda ya'll think.

I don't think that just because you're big, bad and succesful nobody would want to fight you. On the contrary. Some people derive great pleasure from besting a bigger better opponent so I no reason why some aliens wouldn't be like that too. Some AI's wouldn't want to fight you because your big and succesful, but others would purposefully pick a fight with just because you're big and succesful. Makes more sense to me. But prestige points in general is a good idea.

Some of those "smaller" empires should also ask for help constantly from the "bigger" empires. How many requests does the US get from small nations for money, defense, etc.? The larger empires should be plagued with requests for defense against agressors, economy boosts, surplus food (Sally Struthers appears, begging you to send food to the Ethernopian Empire in the Marklar system...) http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
