question about pre-order status
 

I just preordered the game earlier....i just got an update email saying that the game status is on backorder....

Is that normal for every pre-order?

I think it must be, or just some odd glitch. The game is right on track, the gold code is being delivered to Shrapnel now (is probably already in their hands, actually) and CD-pressing should begin soon. Maybe "we haven't printed the CDs yet" equals "backordered"?

ok...was just wondering....thought it kind of strange that a pre-order would cause a backorder....i just thought that a pre-order would be one of the reasons to avoid a backorder...

I got this automatic email response just now when I tried to pre-order:

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest in Dominions II. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to fill your order, because the initial printing of 10,000 CDs has been sold out. This was completely unexpected, due to customer #2802 (CPBELLER) placing an order for 9,932 units of Dominions II on OCT-10-2003. This customer #2802 appears to be a major retailer, since he recently also placed a bulk order for Dominions I... as such, we cannot risk offending this customer #2802 by giving you one of his 9,932 units. Please check back later. In the meantime, a dual monitor setup with Dominions I for gameplay and Shogun: Total War for graphics should replicate the Dominions II experience.

Have a nice day."

Strange. I wonder who this customer #2802 could be?

what is exactly a back order? An order on hold indefinitively?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Usually, it means that the company that produces the product in question wasn't expecting as many orders as they got, so they don't have any in stock or expected soon, and need to have more manufactured before they can ship it to you. Similar to "out of stock".

You could try PMing or e-mailing the guy.

"CPBELLER" also shows up as a handle on a number of other Boards.

Back ordered means that they don't yet have the item in stock.

My paranoid mother won't lend her card to me, and i want to get this game before I am 22 years old...
