Ermor and the Demo

As a Dominions Newbie I would love to see Ermor playable in the Demo. It is the easyest Nation/Race to learn how to play (Ignore supply / Recruiting) and without a manual it should be playable in the demo.

P.S. Please note I pre-ordered the game 2 weeks ago so this has ne effect on me I just think this would go a LONG way toward introducing new players to the game (Ermor tutorals are easy to follow in Dominions I and they should be just as easy in Dominions II)

Re: Ermor and the Demo

This is an interesting suggestion though I guess it is a bit late for a change of this type.

It looks like the Dom I demo was perceived as too generous (IMO that demo was far better than many full comercial games), thus the Dom II demo is far more restricted, to the point that it might be a bit daunting to the newcomer (most notably regarding the little documentation with the demo).

Maybe some vet player could start a game with say Ulm or Man, play 5-8 turns (enough to build an OK initial army & research a simple battle spell for the mages) & put the game folder for download in a web site with a link to it here or in the same place as the demo?...just thinking of ways to make starting easier for the total newbie.

The game is a gem, but it would be a pity if sales were lost because potential players abandoned before getting to know the fine detail.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I agree. The demo for the first game rocked (A bit too much).
This demo is almost worthless if it's purpose is to attract new players. No instructions, no tutorial, the nation/race that newbies can pick up on the fastest is locked out.

Re: Ermor and the Demo

I don't know how much it's changed, but default Ermor is quite different (apparently) from Dom I Ermor. I don't think in Dom II default theme you can afford to ignore supply, etc. [the Dom I Ermor is preserved in a theme for Ermor]

It would be a good idea to get a game started, and out there for people to download.

Re: Ermor and the Demo

Yep, the default Ermor (which has been referred to at times as Living Ermor) is different. It relies much more strongly on living troops, with all their attendant strengths and weaknesses. You can still raise undead, but some of the more powerful ones will not be available, nor is it as easy to raise the Army of Darkness.

The first of Ermor's two alternate dominions, Ashen Empire, is Ermor as it was in Dom I, if I understand correctly.
