Heavy Mount?
I've been playing since X-mas and it just hit me that the computer ship designs have an H in the upper lefthand corner of some of their weapons signifying a heavy mount. My question is: where is the tech for me to research this? I've looked at the tech tree to no avail.
Thanks |

Re: Heavy Mount?
Thanks. A month later and I finally notice that key on the ship construction screen. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif
I'm going to assume that with the heavy mount, ect it's worth the trade in size for the damage that is delivered. |

Re: Heavy Mount?
yes, it's worth it. The multiple for damage done is greater than the multiple for mass increase. I don't recall the numbers off the top of my head, but it's something like 1.5 mass for a 2x damage weapon. Thus, if were going to put in 3 for 3x damage, you can now put 2 in the same "space" for 3x damage. And the bigger the mounts get, the better the multiplier.

Don't feel bad, I did not notice it either until X-mas, and by then, I had already had the game since mid Nov. D'oh http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif
