Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
When you click on the Move of the units, you should see three movement speeds:
1) Basic & Current Action Points: for battle. 2) Map Movement Speed: for strategic map movement. 3) Army Map Movement Speed: what is it? Most units have a zero here but some (e.g. scouts) have a larger number. |
Re: Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
I want to rise up again this thread becouse no one give you an answer ...
I found in a thread someone saying that army map speed is the psedd of the army (so the lowest speed of the units in the army). I also would like to know how many action points a unit need to move one square in the map during a battle... I have a Hero wikth 30 action poimts: 1) how many square can he run in a turn in a battle ? 2) are action points related to the number of attacks or an attack expire all yours action points ? |
Re: Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
Could someone please also explain the strategic map movement. Sometimes my armies can move two friendly provinces, sometimes only one (without changing the units in the army). Is it to do with action points or size of provinces or something? How can I tell whether they will be able to move 1 or 2 next turn?

Re: Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
It has to do with the terrain: Swamps, forests, and mountains will all halt the movement of any non-fliers, unless the entire army has the relevant survival ability. Wastes, plains, and farms allow full use of > 1 strat move. An enemy-held province at the endpoint of your intended move will also prevent a non-flying unit from performing multi-move into that province.
Ocean squares seem to never allow more than one move, with the exception of units that sail, and can skip over one sea square to land on any land square. |

Has this actually been indicated as something which will be fixed, or just an oddity? |
Re: Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
It it a feature. From the manual 5.2.5:
Underwater movement works in the same way as movement on dry land with one exception: it is not possible to move more than one province underwater. I dont find it annoying since water provinces often are 'bigger' than land provinces, you can get where you are going by crossing 2 water provinces or 5 land provines. |
Re: Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
Sorry, you are right. I must have (subconsciously: purposefully?) overread that.
I must say I find it highly counter-intuitive. I would have understood a rule such as: - poor amphibions can only move 1 prov underwater - amphibians can only move 1 prov underwater - aquatic beings can move their full map movement underwater Anything else just seems really bizarre, not the least because many aquatic creatures have a map movement of 2 or more. |
Re: Army Map Movement vs Map Movement Speed
Hmm, since water provinces usually are really big, I like it the way it is. Also, the map movement value on aquatic beings has the same worth as a precision stat on a commander: Both can get items which allow them to use these stats...
