A question about Immortality...

Correct me if I am wrong (I never played around much with immortals) but in DomI, for an immortal to resurrect, the following had to apply:

1) He needs to die within his god's dominion,
2) His nation needs to be in control of his Capital province.

When a capital was under siege, the province belonged to the attacker for all purposes of movement through owned territory, for example.

However, I just lay a long siege against T'ien, who had some immortal heroes, who seemed to respawn every turn right on my sieging army...
Also, I slew his god a while ago (while laying siege to his castle). It attacked again a couple of turns later, about one turn after I had taken complete posession of the province and the castle.

Is that supposed to happen? If yes, I think I'm finally getting around to use an immortal god, attacking my sieging enemies once a turn. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: A question about Immortality...

An immortal does need to be within a friendly dominion to revive. I haven't had a chance to test if the capital has to be in friendly hands, but I think it does. I think you'd have different results if the fortress had actually fallen because the province is really considered under the fortress owner's control in many ways.

When a god is recalled by priests, he'll appear in his home province even if it is under enemy control. This I have seen several times. However, because there's no delay in recalling an immortal, he would just get stuck in a loop if his home province still has a friendly (to him) dominion. He'd keep popping up, getting killed, popping up, getting killed, ad nauseum.

Hopefully, that isn't the case. As I say, I haven't seen it tested yet. (I've run into respawning immortals in their home province, but I conquered their dominion, thus nullifying their immortality, before being able to find out if they'd just keep popping back up like some kind of Ermorian spin on Wack-A-Mole.)
