I have some questions about this game
 

1) How is it single player? How is the AI?

2) can you pick any race to start with and then build from there?

3) are the single player games scripted scenarios or can you setup skirmishes that are random?
4) are there map editors and item creating editors and things like that?
5) how many opponents are out there

I am very much interested in this but would just like more info than on the website.

1)Dunno about the AI... Ppl say it's bad, but i have seen worser...

2)In the full Version, yes.

3)I think full Version has scenarios.

4)Yes

5)you vs 16 other players/comps

yeah im more concerned with can i as a single player setup random game maps and then battle for control, or can I desgin huge maps with large armies on them sorta like MIddle Earth

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I don't think Dom2 comes with random maps out of the box, but there are those in the community that have made utilities to make random maps, though the actual physical layout of the provinces in the map arn't all that important, its more about what sites and how valuable the provinces are, and that is random from game to game.

There will be a map builder utility with the game, so you will be able to make your own maps and script them somewhat.

The AI is decent enough, though there's been alot of debate as to what and how to improve it. I'm sure it will get tweeks as patches come out, but it's really not bad at all as it is right now. It has some holes, but then again all AIs have holes (even the GalCiv AI has holes http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif )

The map (layouts of the provinces) doesnt really define the challenges of the game as much as other things which are random with each start. You start in a new place, the other people do, each province has new pluses and minuses.

And Im fully expecting (hoping, begging, willing to pay someone) that the people who created random map generators for Dom1 will do it for Dom2

The AI is I think as good as most games. It doesnt look like it will get more than minor tweaks soon. The game is more geared toward multiplay than solo play. Even then, Im a solo player and dearly love this game. Ive even played some multiplayer games with it which is very rare for me.
