LOL, Luck?

Have you guys attacked an independent province, killed an uber-commander, and got a bunch of magic items? I just did! I killed a Hoburg uberfuhrer and got like 5 items.

That's quite a score! I've rarely seen the independent commanders with more than a single item or two, let alone be able to recover them more than once in a blue moon! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

On some high indy difficulty I saw a special paladin of some nature wearing a full set of equipment bearing his name. I don't even think these items were normally forgable. He was a really nasty fellow with all his equipment and quite a surprise to my poor army.

Actually, yes...that was Solaris now that you mention it. Nasty fellow, isn't he? Cool though.

I've never met Solaris, but I have browsed the strings in the executable, heh; had once been looking for things to wish for, e.g. items I couldn't forge even if investing a truly demented amount of gems to create a super archmage.

SO what were his stats? He's not even on the darn unit view map! And were his items really that awesome?

Solaris is a Paladin, but a very experienced and well equipped one. Thus his stats are hidden from mortal eyes. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

There are some items that can't be forged by players. These can be found on special heroes that sometimes appear during map generation.

Specials such as these can only appear in nonscripted provinces. They are rather rare. A handful in a large game at most.
