Enter Site to Summon.....
Just found a devil's den. My first ever "found" blood site.
It says enter to summon a devil. So...I'm entering. But I don't have any blood slaves with me, and my only blood mage is the pretender, who doesn't have much of an army with him at the moment.... So...is he going to get attacked or something? Or will he not get anything since he doesn't have the blood slaves? That thing increases unrest by 15, and the province has a 300-some unrest at present. So I think this would be a great place to hunt blood slaves as it appears the populace is rather useless. |

Yeah, unrest interferes with blood slave hunting, so you'd need to patrol extra-heavy to harvest from there.
While Dom II clearly does allow for the risk of being attacked because of entering a magical site, the only site I'm aware of with that property is R'lyeh's Void Gate. The other "enter to summon Foo" sites tend to be safe. |

I just wish I had another blood mage! Right now only my pretender has blood magic. And he's a sage. My nation is ulmand needs his research ability.
Are we talking real devils here, or mostly those little imps? Any chance of a highly powerful one? I hope it isn't influenced by luck (though that would be very balancing) because I have unluck 3! |

Some summons do actually have upkeep, I think; not all. Undead generally don't, but I think trolls -- at least Sea Trolls, and probably the others -- do.
Edit: Addendum. The devils you'll get are the basic devils; larger than imps, they fly, stronger than your normal human, they radiate fire and all that, and wield pitchforks. They're not exactly awe-inspiring, but they're nice to have. Luck won't matter, it's a guaranteed summons so long as you have a blood mage entering the site. As far as I know, you can't yet. I only realized that troll summons might have upkeep when in a Dom I game my upkeep jumped up in response to summons, even when I'd not recruited any additional "normal" troops.

Trolls likes gold. That is common knowledge. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Magical beings and undead do not cost upkeep IIRC. There is currently no way to tell, but I believe that trolls (ans seatrolls) are the only ones.
Things that you can buy in sites do cost upkeep as upkeep is 1/15 of their initial cost. Things that you summon by entering a site costs 0. |

Trolls, Sea trolls, draconians, black hawks, cross breeding critters require upkeep, do not remember any others right now.
