bug? commander unit won\'t cast specific spells...
 
Hello all...

I have a Hydra commander (Gift of Reason).. but my troops arn't poison proof. So, I have it set so that the Hydra casts a specific spell "Serpents Blessing" in the first round -- but he refuses to do it! He seems to insist on barkskin instead. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif

I gave him a fat load of nature gems, as the spell requires one for each casting, but he won't use them anyway. Anyone know what this nonsense is about? A bug?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I guess he has the required spell path/level in the spell path to cast the spell? If he has less than nature 2, he will not be able to cast the spell even with the help of gems. That would be the most obvious obstacle.

You might watch the battle closely. The script you give is basically "suggestions" and there are alot of reasons that the commander might decide not to cast a spell. Sometimes its obivous like his fatigue is too high by then, or he needs gems, or there is no one on the battlefield that it will work on.
