How to play dominions 2 through a firewall (port 80)
I got this working Last week, and thought I would share (dominions 2 is such a great work game, 'specially in a window)
You need 2 things, a proxy server and a little application called Permeo Security Driver. I use http-tunnel for my proxy server. They charge a bit over a buck a month for their low-bandwidth service, but I'm familiar with it and it works. No need for their high-bandwidth service for dominions 2 cause the files transferred are so small. Http Tunnel: Download and install, enter your key, and configure 2 settings- your proxy server (you must be able to access the web through port 80.. if you can, check IE tools>Options>Connections>LAN Settings. If a proxy script is being used by IE, you can cut/paste it into a browser and decipher by trial and error what your firewall's proxy server is. You may have no proxy server, if so just check the 'no proxy' box in the HTTP tunnel config. The other http tunnel setting to check is 'Proxy supports the Connect command'. I have to leave this unchecked for it to work, your mileage may vary. Get Http-Tunnel here: http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/ Permeo Security driver is easy, and this page describes the setup. No tricks. http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/supp...socksifing.asp Get Permeo (free evaluation Version, no time limit I have seen) here: http://download.permeo.com/cgi-bin/eval Happy gaming!
