Ressurection?
 

Ive been playing a DOM2 game for 130 turns and have this awesome hero, unfortunatley he had an encounter alone with an Ermor army the size of 1000 deadies, after about 500 dead zombies he starts to run away, and a horseman catches up to him, and bam. Is there a way to raise him from the dead? That could be a nice spell if it doesent exist yet.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">One of the things I've learned is that you WILL lose heroes and armies and that they ARE a replenishable resource, but how in the world was your awesome hero armyless 130 turns into the game? The lesson I learned from a similar situation was to safeguard my heroes.

Maybe Vengeance of the Dead was casted... otherwise who knows why.

There is a "Ritual of return" or some sorts. its a high-level death spell and will return your hero (From the top 10/15 list only) to "life". Meaning he/she becomes a mummy.
