Newbies Beware...
 

I have become quite good at kicking butt since the day of release but Last night i really messed up! I thought i'd share this with you guys as i had invested 100+ turns and two days and nights playing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif . I had my pretender god and prophet close to the front lines in their newly built accomodations http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . Some nasty armies attacked a nearby province in my dominion and i saw there was their god and prophet in that army so i attacked it with my HUGE army consisting of MY god and prophet figuring i'd finish them off http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif Well, i chased them two provinces outside of my dominion and slaughtered them...BUT...i left my army there and ended my turn. Boom, i lost the game: my god had no dominion left it said even though i was alive http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif I guess you need to have a god or prophet in YOUR dominion at ALL times..clumsy me! <font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I think you only have to maintain your dominion - that doesn't REQUIRE having a pretender or prophet there, but I imagine it makes it easier. Were you playing a low dominion pretender without many temples?

No, i was Ashen Empire, dominion 9 with about 7 or 8 temples http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif .

Some are more susceptable than others. But yes you have to keep an eye on that. The thing about newbies is that they tend to check their pretender early on and are thrilled to see the boost in things like HP from their dominion. But they think that if it drops it will drop to what their base amount. They dont realize that entering someone elses dominion will pile the minuses on you.

My Pretender was very powerful and full of Earth 8/construction artifacts, he was a killing machine...Earth 5 Death 9. No. You don't need to have your God or prophet inside your dominion. You just need to have some dominion influence somewhere on the map.

Your case is unusual as it's not easy to kill the dominion of a player (especially human) unless he's down to a few provinces.

It certainly is mystifying. I wonder if purgatory could have this kind of effect?
