short question on upkeep
Just wondering: I seem to be giving way too much of my income out for "upkeep", and was wondering how I can lower this a bit. Maybe I dont summon enough. In any case, have been playing Ulm, because I like the idea of fewer, more sturdy units -- but are these heavier on the "upkeep"? How is upkeep actually calculated? From Cherry's "Newbie" thread I dont totally understand. Thank you.

Re: short question on upkeep
IIRC it's recruitment cost /15, halved for sacred units. Some summons cost upkeep, some don't.

Re: short question on upkeep
Upkeep is based on the gold cost of a unit.
1/15 of the initial cost is paid every month.Sacred units cost 1/30. Most summoned creatures cost nothing, but there are some exceptions. Trolls (and sea trolls) are summonable, but can also be bought at some special sites. They have a cost of 60 gold (trolls likes gold) giving them an upkeep of 3 gold each. If you have summoned lots of trolls throw them into battles. They are too expensive to stand idle. |
Re: short question on upkeep
Thanks. Do National Heros count towards upkeep, and if so how much?

Re: short question on upkeep
For Ulm, the Black Knights, Black Lords, and Smiths are some expensive units. The Templars and Black Priests of Iron Faith are cheaper to keep since they are holy. If you have many Black Knights, group them up and use them.
Ulm usually can have a strong and cheap army if it builds many of the gold-cheap but very well equipped heavy infantry. They're resource-expensive, but there's no resource maintenance. PvK |
