Tiny question on Trampling

Hello, I have been using and liking the Great Mother as a fighting pretender, at least in her own dominion (with Ulm -- magic drain 3, not much casting going on, and I tried settings with lower magic and dominion 7 -- she then has tons of hit pointes). Up till now, I have put girdle of might on her, boots of messenger (to make running and trampling less fatigue-costing -- is thas right?), and two shields. But what happens if I put a weapon on her, can she still trample, or will she default use that weapon? I would like, for example if she comes across a Son of the Sun, for her to be then not totally useless when she charges in (I have her set on cast earthpower, cast might of gaia, cast barkskin, attack rearmost).

Thanks for that help.

Yeah, she should still trample. Armored/equipped Jotuns and Heavy Cav trample, since it's a function of size differential instead of equipment.

Trample USES size differential to determine damage.

She will trample at all times unless she encounters a being too large to trample (another size 6er). At that point she would go into hand to hand with her weapon.

The reinvigoration items restore fatigue according to their number once per round. They don't actually lower the costs, they counteract them.

Sorry... of course I knew that, since I rejoice at seeing the little elephant on the screen. Anyways, what you said.

Anyways, about size differential being a factor of trampling, remember that the bigger the diff, the more damage is dealt.

Thanks, all great info.
Can I set it so that she wont try to trample some of the larger folk, for example? I mean I know she *can* trample up to size 5, but I prefer she only do it to size 3 or 4, then use weapon. Is that possible?

Not sure, but I think trample is part of the whole attack phase - it won't even come into play if it's not possible. It's just a way to do extra damage when it is possible.

According to the devs:

Trample damage is (2*size), armor piercing. Size difference is not relevant.

As for how trample works: Tramplers trample until they run out of action points, then attack with a weapon. So you always do both.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Doesnt two shields (i.e. no attacks) cause you to have a "feeble kick" attack that gives a negative defense modifier? Using Main Gauche of Parrying will give your Earth Mother a good boost in defense IIRC.
