Immortals and cursed items
The all powerful Fox is an immortal pretender Saurolich. On one occasion, he was momentarily distracted by a cute Lizard Woman who was strolling through the middle of a battle and got taken out by a swarm of heavy infantry. When he re-appeared in the capital, he had lost his magic items.
Recently, while nosing through some dead bodies (he is a dead lizard man after all!) he found a cute little amulet that, when put on, has the unfortunate effect of cursing him with berserk attacking tendencies. While this does tend to work well for him, it does limit his ability to use his level nine death magic in battle. It he should get killed again, will the cursed object disappear like all of the goodies did Last time? |
Re: Immortals and cursed items
Yep, cursed items are often collected by surviving fools, so your saurolich will not take it with him in his tomb. Death is a good way to loose property.

Re: Immortals and cursed items
That is one improvement I'd like to see: recovered items into the laboratory instead of being equipped. I ended up with a Bane popping in the Green Eye in my Last game, which was not exactly the best use for it.
(If I could have slaughtered the guy and been sure of getting it out of him and into a place it'd do some good, I would have. The little klepto deserved it! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif ) |

Re: Immortals and cursed items
Yeah, but immortals don't 'die', right? They just pop back home, all magic items intact. You'd have to take him out of his dominion and really get him killed, thus incurring the hideous magic losses and potential wounds in order to lose your little stowaway.

Re: Immortals and cursed items
An immortal dying in his own dominion still loses items and magical resources.

Re: Immortals and cursed items
I keep trying and he will not die! I know, this is not really a big problem, but I want him to die! I need him to die! Ulm is invading with huge armies and I need his death magic. In a turn or two he is sure to get run over by Ulm, but it has been hilariously frustrating as they keep dodging him.
Bowlingballhead. When an immortal is killed in their own domain, they do “die” and lose their good magic items. They just pop right back up in the capital, ready to cast ritual spells. It looks like he will also lose his bad item as well, if I can just get him near the Ulmish infantry. Now, here is my next question. If I run Gift Of Health and Burden of Time at the same time I have Mimasia, I should really mess up the invading armies at the same time I do not incur anything against myself. Further, with my Foul Vapors, everyone who attacks faces poison, and if Fox gets into battle, Darkness. Soon I will be facing an invading army of crippled, sick, and heavily armored Ulm. They will stumble around in the dark, slowly being poisoned. Does this seem to make sense? |

Saurolich... needs to die... hm.
Got death gems? Try lammashastas; they don't like their summoners either. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif There are other battlefield spells and summons that can hurt yourself, too. Or putting him far forward on 'attack' surely should help. Or script big spells so he falls unconscious. There are also remote rituals that don't discriminate; for instance, Flames from the Sky hurt friendlies, too (or at least in Dom I it did); dunno if Fires from Afar does as well. Ghost Riders, horrors also don't care who they attack. |

There was a computer opponent that casted this spell during battle. Those Lammashastas killed him which allowed me to win the battle because his undead units either fell apart or ran away. LOL [ January 26, 2004, 16:32: Message edited by: NTJedi ] |
