very short question(s) on blood magic and blood hunting
Hello,
experimenting with Pangaia Pandemoniac and blood, and am having trouble figuring out blood slaves. Firstly, I get the message after 3 searches that the people will not tolerate another blood hunt. OK. Can I go back to a province after a break, or does that mean: cant ever search there again? If the latter -- how do I get enough Blood Slaves? Secondly: "performing blood sacrifice" -- what apparently Mictlan and Abyssian priests can do -- what is that exactly, and is it the same as "perform blood hunt" or "use blood magic"? Lastly: by sacrificing blood slaves, do they mean "using" them like gems? thanks |
Re: very short question(s) on blood magic and blood hunting
Telling the locals that you want their daughters to become blood virgins tends to make them mad. Its like high taxes. You can put up with extra unrest, or stop for awhile, or patrol harder. Usually I tend to choose between tax OR bloodhunt, not both. So high pop areas I use for taxing and low pop I turn taxes to 0 and bloodhunt. (anywhere with a lab works better, easier to turn in the results)
Mictlan doesnt preach to spread dominion. They do sacrifices. So other than using blod slaves its the same as preaching. And yes using them is like gems. No graphical action, they just disappear. |
Re: very short question(s) on blood magic and blood hunting
1. Just chose a province with 8k+ and set taxes to 0 and hunt all you want
2. It expands dominion by sacrificing blood slaves in temples 3. Yes blood slaves are used as gems , problem is on the battlefield they are killabe as units |
Re: very short question(s) on blood magic and blood hunting
Thank you!
Sorry, but doesnt the chance that you find some blood slaves also depend on the population? Thus if I search in a low-pop area, wont I have a much smaller chance of finding someone? |

Correct , the bigger province the bigger score.

Yes, I think Gandalf meant he'd usually have gold from a large province than blood slaves. You can get some blood slaves even from a province with say 3000 people, which would only give you a few gold per turn. With a 30,000 province, you'd usually get a few more blood slaves, but you could also get a hundred or more gold per turn, and the differences between how many you'd get in each case tends to favor letting the rich provinces give gold, and the moderate or poor ones give blood. Unless, of course, you have enough gold and would rather have more blood anyway (e.g., in my Iron Faith game, where I have many good provinces, enough gold, and only one good blood hunter).
BTW, in my experience you can also blood hunt a in some provinces and tax them at a lower rate, and unrest will generally hover at a low level. That's with only one or two hunters, though - it's probably more efficient to hunt with many at once. PvK |

Hunting efficiency seems to drop when you have too many hunters in a province. I think there's a cap in how much blood you can get out of the turnips . . . err, loyal peasants. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: very short question(s) on blood magic and blood hunting
I believe it's 1 Hunter per 1000 people that is effective. The most effective being 5-6k Provinces with 5 Blood Hunters in it. Depending on their levels of blood it will vary your success rate.
