Magic Items in combat transformation?

Did a search, couldn't find the answer sorry if this has been previously discussed.

What happens to magic items that you no longer have slots for when transforming IN COMBAT?

I know they go to the lab (does there need to be one in the prov for this to work?) if it's a ritual effect, but not sure what happens when it's an automatic ability.

Do the items still affect you?

Do they disappear into the ether (i.e. as if dropped, ... in which case are they picked up

1. automatically
2. via normal rules
3. Not at all (poof!) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif )

In other words, under what conditions do they not function/reappear?

Thanks,

Re: Magic Items in combat transformation?

If your talking about like a Dragon or a Lamia or a Black Sorcerer, then IIRC the item is dropped and if you win the battle you can recover some of the items which you have a better chance with more commanders but sometimes you lose items no matter what.

Edit: Oh and no, they don't affect someone/thing that is shapechanged. So if you have a shapechanger don't put on non-cross-slotable items if you anticipate them changing forms.

When I was using a dragon in Doms I, I was strongly under the impression that carried magic items return when the shapechanger transforms back into the form with the magic slots. Meanwhile, they are in never never land.

I do not think they get dropped on the battlefield, nor do they go to the lab when you transform outside of a battle, but I mainly assumed I was right and haven't tested much.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way in Dom2, unless I'm just very unlucky.

Items when shapechanged in a province with a lab will return to the lab (Really easy to test this by making an item putting it on your human form dragon and changing and see if it's in the lab after you change back)

And during battle they drop them, who knows where, then after the battle I think you have the normal (or hopefully better) chances of picking up equipment. Though it doesn't seem odd to me that when a little wizened sage transforms into a huge red dragon, he busts out of his armor like the Hulk.

I think I once lost a one-handed item when the 'lost an arm' afflicion healed on an immortal. Suddenly it had 2 arms and no weapon.

Sounds like much more caution is required in Doms 2. I suppose if you aren't at a lab, the item vanishes? Sounds like a job for a Warning Dialog.
