How do I field enough troops to stay offensive minded and yet defend taken provinces?
Sorry for the question. I've used the search feature under Carrion Woods and I just can't seem to keep enough troops to sustain any kind of offense. I usually have at least 3-5 Carrion Lords on my home province reanimating and then load one up and send him out and replace him with another rinse repeat and continue. They leave with about 50-60 vine creatures but I just can't seem to match any of the Easy AI cpu realms. I can't remain offensive minded and still keep provinces just don't have enough resources so how do all of you do it? I start off fine then they over take me with hundreds of troops by the end its just 8-9 carrion lords and my pretender on my home province waiting for death. Any tips and suggestions would be extremely helpfull. I'll continue to search the forums as well maybe I might come across somthing I missed. Thank you.

The game is very balanced. Nothing is going to be good in every situation. Dont count on the carrion troops by themselves. Mix in other troops from the independent provinces. Archers, slingers, crossbow, flyers, etc.

Try speed summoning Carrion Centaurs instead of Lords. Carrion Lords AFAIK don't summon more, just slightly better Vine creatures. You can summon 2 1/2 Carrion Centaurs for each lord. You'll find that arrowfire as well as banishment will take a toll on your armies, so it's best to get up alot of fodder.
Another useful method of getting more creatures is using Construct Mandragora. If an Apostate summons them you get 6 Mandragora's for 10 Nature Gems. The more nature magic you have (I.E. as on a pretender) the more Mandragora's you get a pop. (If you have a pretender with 7 Nature, he'll make 10 for 10 Nature, a pretty good deal, since Carrion commanders rarely field very many troops in this regard) Another good method for fielding troops is to use Reanimation/Spirit Mastery to try to fill out your ranks. Alternatively if you get another income of gems (With searching and others) complimenting your armies with non-undead troops that can withstand arrowfire would be a very good idea. |

Oh this isn't a complaint about imbalance. If anything its my lack of knowledge and skill. Well the problem I had with mixing other troops with my zombie vine creatures is that my income is horrible. At my height in my Last game with 6 provinces I barely had 130 gold in my treasury *chuckles* Anyways thanks for your input the search continues.

There we go thanks. I really have no knowledge of this game. I just ordered it on the strength of the reviews no demo no background and I'm hooked. But I'm learning thanks for the suggestion I will def give that a shot. Who knows maybe I might win my first game soon. Thanks again.

Carrion Woods will be hard to win with http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Try to establish a front and put your reanimators and making Mandragoras. Also search every site you can for Death/Nature gems so you can get enough to really start fielding some troops.
Also you should *probably* gear your research to Alteration 5 first. So you can cast Mother Oak with 20-30+ Nature Gem boost to the spell so you can start getting a regular good income of Nature gems to keep up your summoning. |
