Request

Just like to first thank Targa for a wonderful map and Gandalf for his work (get the *** kissing over with first =).

I dont know if this is overstepping my boundaries, but I would kill for Gandalf to make Targa's map randomized. It just looks like it has such great potential with a little randomization thrown in. So that is my request, pure and simple.

Thx again

You're welcome. As for randomization, GP's already asked about doing it with CoT, so I see no reason why he wouldn't do so with Karan. I doubt he'll request that you kill anyone though. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Heehee. Thanks for the nice words.

Have you played the randomization of the Miirunst map?
http://www.techno-mage.com/~dominion.../MiirunstX.map

When Tiltowait made it for me t0 randomize I told him I thought it was way too nice a map for that. It deserved to stand alone. But he still wanted it so I made one. It re-rolls every day.

As for Targa's map, its a great map. But I dont think it will work well for randomizing. Too many choke-points. The game I just played on it, I started in the province with the skull mountain. There was one land province and one water province as neighbors. If a randomization put 10 monoliths in one and 10 sphinxs in the other it would have been a LONG game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
I could write a weaker randomzier for it but I think the map is too good for it.

You want more randoms? Different ones? I could do one with one of the random-rolled map images.

That province shoulda been #nostart (which I did do to some of the interior provinces that would have been poor starting positions, like that one). Oh well...

What? no request for killing anyone? All the better I suppose (sigh).

I agree with Gandalf that your map (Targa) is excellent, however, i must protest that a randomization of it would hamper the quality of it. I believe it can only get better =).

So without further aduueeee, I still stand by my request. If a weaker Version of the randomization must be put in place to allow the map to shine even more brightly!...then so be it!

The_Maxx (*Seriously* addicted to randomization.map).

-@ Gandalf, yes the milrunst, ive played it to death along with the poke-eye map (still my favorite btw).

@ everyone else, if you havent tried the random maps, you are all missing out, bwah bwah haha.

Gandalf, did you ever make a randomizer that would spread around specific special sites?

I flagged provinces as nostart in the editor on the World map, because they're just really awful places to start, and whenever an AI race starts on them, they tend to become stranded and never are able to leave.

Nonetheless, I start up a new game, and end up on that crappy island anyway. Doublechecking, I find I did, in fact, flag it nostart. Must not be working right.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well, I was under the impression that the map editor built into Dominions II was able to set this correctly. If the Dom2 Map Editor isn't setting the nostart bit, which bit *IS* it setting....and what does THAT one do?
