Can somebody screw with my "my profile" here?

Can someone with whom I share this computer log on and screw around with my profile?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes. If you saved your password to the forums so you don't have to relogin, then anyone who uses your computer may be able to screw around with your profile.

Ways to avoid this include making sure that he uses a different user account, for WinXP/Linux/MacOS, or purging your cookies and closing your browser before leaving.

Alternatively, the threat of grievous bodily harm is always effective, and much more fun. Who says violence doesn't solve problems?

Damn.

How can I unsave the password? How do you purge cookies?

I share the computer with many (University), and whoever it was had obviously had fun with "rate member". I just checked the "my profile" and apparently rated whole bunches of people here (whose stuff I like btw) "one star"; I never would have noticed but that all of a sudden I see I got a rating myself (some of those people took their just revenge). Well I dont care about my own "rating", but apparently those others I supposedly rated do. Well I have never actually rated anyone before.

Ok I will log off -- can you tell me how to "purge" my "cookies"?
thanks.

I'm guessing that you're using Internet Explorer, then?

Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Cookies.

Basically, someone using his account made not-nice Posts, and the natural reaction is that the poster of those not-nice Posts got his rating trashed. The people doing the rating assumed that the account owner made the Posts, which is a more than reasonable assumption. The real owner logs on and discovers he has a really bad rating all of a sudden, as a reaction to what someone impersonating him did. He does not need to know who rated him. He just sees that his reputation was trashed. It doesn't matter who did the trashing.

Ratings *are* private.
