How do you rename commanders?
 

I heard it was a feature in v2.08

Select the commander and right-click on him/her to bring up the stats/inventory window. When you've got that window open, hit "r".

How does someone rename commanders for a game which has been running for 3 weeks??

A message returns saying the option is not available for this game... does this mean I have to wait until next game to rename my commanders or is there a file adjustment I can make??

As far as I know, there's no way to upgrade the old games to the new file format required for renaming. As you'll notice, renaming is now a part of game set-up options, indicating that this "option state" is stored as a flag within the games. Without that flag being on, there's no renaming.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes, you have to wait for next game. By default renaming is turned off so all games started before 2.08 will not have renaming enabled.

Agreed, the rename feature is a very slick little addition. Great flavor. Although for some of the nations (particularly Caelum and Mictlan) I really like the random names the game comes up with. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

But it's a true blessing in the Pangaea game I started Last night...since within two turns I had three leaders (my starting Centaur Hierophant, then two other Centaur Commanders) with 6-letter names, all starting with "Pe****"... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
