Post order in threads

Is there a reason why Posts appear in reverse order, and is there a way to change it?

has been asked several times until now, i cant tell why it sorts this way, but once you get the hang its quite okay. no way to change it.

If you click on "printer friendly" then it will show the whole thread in proper order. That can help when first getting in here and wanting to catch up on things. After that, seeing the latest Posts first actually seems to help since some of these are really long threads.

It's just different from every single other forum in existence that I've ever seen (at least in that's it's not user-editable)...hard to relearn reading habits for just one board. The printer-friendly thing should do the trick though...

No offense, but viewing in the printer-friendly format is worse than backwards.

Most Boards will have a spot in user profile where you can set "default viewing option" or something like that. I couldn't find one.

Everything said (such as "all the other Boards") is true. However most Boards which do it in the other order also have buttons which let you only see new Posts since Last you visited, jump to beginning of post, jump to end of Posts, etc etc. Also many of them automatically roll off older Posts so that only newer Posts exist, you cant see the first post. Also important to note, most of those Boards cost a pretty penny to get the software for and take a hefty machine to run.

As far as THIS software.. there might be no way to change it without scrapping the many Posts already done. And if its ONLY the order that would change then I wouldnt really like it. The other order would be good when you first get here but not later.

There IS a poll on this subject in the schrapnel forum (shrapnel general I think)

Well I agree that changing the format at the cost of loosing the info here is not a option. I just dont have super memory installed in my head and actually like to review the older Posts previous to the ones im going to read at the end. Guess I will head on over and take the poll. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

The poll is in the section "Ask Shrapnel Games" for those of you who want to vote.

Well seeing as how this is the ONLY forum that does it this way in the 1000 or so I have read/used, its very frustrating. I wish they would change it to the normal view. This reading backwards is getting old.

And what do you mean no way to change it? I find that hard to believe.

It is funny, I am so used to the Shrapnel Boards that I find most other systems backwards and confusing. May I suggest coming over to the Light Side of the Force and avoiding the other Boards? Yoda wants you to…

Seriously, it is like which side of the road to drive the car on. Both work just fine, but you have to get used to it. A moment or two of disorientation when you change over, then it comes back nicely.
