How to have 2.06 and 2.08 on the same machine at once
I know it can be done, but can someone give simple and to the point instructions on how to have both installed at once?
I'm running two TCP games, and we have Utgard in one but not the other. P.S. Is there a better solution available to the Utgard problem? |

Copy dom2.exe and rename the copy dom206.exe. Then run the patch installer. dom2.exe will run 2.08, and dom206.exe will run 2.06.
If you already installed the patch, ... you have to either reinstall dominions II, or else acquire the old exe elsewhere. For example, you might email me and see what transpires. |

It's also important to note that if you have 2 executables, Dom2.06 will barf when creating a new game in the presence of any 2.08 newlords files.

Re: How to have 2.06 and 2.08 on the same machine at once
Which is why, IMO, despite instructions otherwise from IW, I feel it's safest if people have two completely separate installs of Dominions, one 2.06, the other 2.08, in separate directories. Instead of the IW-approved method of running the 2.06 .exe from inside a 2.08 directory tree.
EDIT: if you do this, install 2.06 first, then install 2.08 in a separate location, in that order. [ February 26, 2004, 05:39: Message edited by: Arryn ] |

I keep 2.06 around for MP compatibility, so I don't plan on starting any new 2.06 games. |
