Modding question
Ok back from a hiatus (actually was waiting for the patch to mod and forgot about the game for a while). Anyways having searched through some of the topics I have no found this answer. Is it possible to mod the monsters from some master list already on the game? Or do you have to write the file that mods anything in the game?
And if the later is true (and unfortunately I think it is from my searching), does anyone have a list of everything in the game already written up for download? So I can just modify that? If this topic has been beaten to death, I'm sorry. |

Top-posted is a list of the weapons and armors in the game, which is useful for modding. If you go to my homepage, you can download the "BlackUnitView" map (based on "AllView") which has a province containing all the units in numeric order. I'm working on a mod-output capability for my Combat Simulator, but it will not be useful until all of the unit numbers are added to the data files. |
Re: Modding question
Alrighty Saber thanks, meh, my feelings were correct though, there's no modding for the lazy like me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . I just wanted to make certain creatures more powerful/hitpoints/etc. Guess I'll wait until someone happens to code up an entire list of creatures in the game into one file, or I get a ton of free time to work the files myself.

Re: Modding question
Sfsuphysics,
You *can* lazily mod only what you want : for example if you want to give 100 hp to the unit called "sample", you just have to write in a sample.dm file : #selectmonster "sample" #hp 100 And it's done ! Dom2 is a modder's laziness good friend ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
Re: Modding question
I apologize for asking a off-topic question, but how do I create a .dm file? Please help.
Note: I know it is similar to a normal .txt file, but I cannot figure out how to make it a .dm extension. Thanks, EternalSpearman [ March 14, 2004, 05:52: Message edited by: EternalSpearman ] |

You have to have file extension visibility turned on. In any folder, go to tools - folder options - view and unclick "hide file extensions". |
Re: Modding question
Thanks. Now I'll be able to create that Vaetti-only mod of Jotunheim I wanted to make!
