Newbie Question.
Just got the game and gone straight into 2 pbem games, I can't stand SP games so this is going to be trial by fire http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif
Anyway my questions. I set up my armies to attack from two provinces. However when I view the battle map only one of the armies actually battled. My main battle force(coming from a seperate province) stayed away. Is this a feature? In this case it cost me the battle http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif My second question is supplies. I have my citadel and next to this a mountain area which i'm occupying, indicating supplies of 41. I have an army of giants (Jort) but certainly way less than 41. However in the Messages it indicates they are starving due to lack of supplies - what am I missing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Tals |

Re: Newbie Question.
Well i'm reasonably sure I moved them - but no way of finding out, the fact they were starving stopped them moving?
Many thanks re feeding http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Persumably supply useage also indicates this, currently supply shows 41 and useage shows 41 so even stevens. Tals [ March 09, 2004, 22:39: Message edited by: Tals ] |
Re: Newbie Question.
most likely you tried to move a leader two areas when there was a unit w/ only one strategic move in the squad.
that, or else you reclicked on the leader thus abrogating the previous move order. |
Re: Newbie Question.
With no history their is no way of telling http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I do know that the white arrow showed when I initiated the order - which would show they were able to make the trip.
In the Messages I had a message then saying the armies were hungry in the problem area so I wondered if that had caused them not to make the move. If that is not the case then I must have cancelled the move http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif I'll be more careful next time. Tals |
Re: Newbie Question.
If another nation moved first and attacked your army before it could move, then it might not have moved.
I don't think strat-move issues would be the cause, because non-fliers, regardless of strategic move, seem unable to move across a friendly province and still attack an enemy province after doing so. However, if you select multiple commanders, one of which can make the move, one of which cannot, and give them all the order to move, the ones that CAN move will do so, giving you an arrow, but the ones that cannot stay behind on "Defend". |
Re: Newbie Question.
If an army gets attacked in the province from where it starts, sometimes it does not move.
If the leader gets assassinated / killed by magic arrow / dies from disease... then the army will definitely not move. If you gave move orders to a distant province (distance: 2+) and subsequently give the leader a strat move 1 unit, its orders will be canceled. Starving does not affect moving. |
