Game freezes during battle

The game freezes and I cannot get out of it. I see my troops and that is it. I cannot do anything and they do not move.

What is happening.

Are there any commands/shortcuts/filters for battle??

by any chance are you hitting the space-bar?

some quick-keys for battles are
SPACE pause
Q quit
PageUp/PageDown raise/lower view
arrow curser keys to move view
w to to turn off the "world" (backgrounds)
g turn off the grid
