Desert Sun / Heart o Winter mechanics and question

Does anybody get these? (Obviously addressed at hot/cold nations players)
I like to have my nation have its preferred temp, and rather have it ahead of time too, but figure I must be doing something wrong:
-I figured that Desert Sun, for instance, would spread heat at a rate which is exactly NOT dependent on dominion (since the heat of the scales I chose is spread based on dominion), but am unsure. Or perhaps it spreads like a temple check? Does anyone know?

I dont feel that my heat is spreading as much as it should; I dont notice significant differences between my heat spread with DS and without it, whereby I suppose that "significant" should mean that it should spread out at a rate of at least +1 more heat/turn than it would have otherwise.

At 50 points, that is a whopping 1 scale + 25%; does anyone find it worth it? (Worth it = obviously dependent on the context (MP, SP, playing Abys vs Cold Nations, playing Abys vs. neutral nations, large maps, small maps, etc.); feel free to name when worth it and when not.)

Thanks much

I dont think it makes heat go up faster in your own dominion, but causes it to go up in provinces close to it too. This is good thing when fightting someone with neutral dominion, as in my experiences the battles tend to always happen in heat. Against cold I have not seen much effect, the cold of enemy dominion probably spreads better than the fire of your neighboring one.

DS/HoW causes your heat and cold to bleed out to neighboring provinces. I'm not sure exactly what the formula to determine this temperature-bleed is, but if you're using these domains, in conjunction with a level 3 scale, it'll greatly stabilize the temperature in your OWN dominion through cross-bleeding as your temperature scales bleed into each other. Without it, temperature scale tends to be somewhat unstable, even at mid to high dominion, and it'll be difficult to consistently enforce heat/cold-3. If your race does not have a strong temperature preference wired into it, there's no need for this dominion option: However, it pays off particularly well for races like Caelum and Abysia, which benefit massively from extreme temperature scale, and cause many opponents to suffer greatly.
