You can find the Ballad of Regeneration here:

http://www.quartertothree.com/phpBB2...=8984&start=60

It is a little more than halfway down the page and contains much valuable info on troll upkeep.

Anyone know why trolls/sea trolls/Sea Kings have upkeep, when so many other (seemingly equally or more powerful) summons don't? 45 W suddenly seems like a whole lot for a Sea King's Court, when it's going to cost you 55 upkeep!

Apparently because they have a gold cost, as the units can be recruited normally from sites or certain provinces: As a result, they're assumed to have upkeep because there's a gold cost associated with them.

Weregild - I like that explanation! (though I'd still prefer no upkeep)

Wergild doesn't really apply when all of your population has been killed, as with Ermor. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Perhaps the trolls then eat the gold in lieu of being deprived of children? Whoever said that you can't eat gold never met a troll.

I guess that's one way of making sure you get the minerals you need in your diet. Usually I'm recommending something like that for iron, though...
