Re: Saves

There is no standard saving proceedure for Dom2. It was designed more of a "Play and see what happens" not a "Save as you go" type of game. Though there are utilities (found in the Link's Thread above) that can help you if you are that type of player.

As for resuming an old saved game on your computer?

Start up Dominions 2. Go to > Play Existing Game, find the game name (Whatever you originally named the game, perhaps "Valent" or something similiar). Click game name. > Play Game and it will go to the Last turn that was hosted on your machine of that name. If I'm reading you correctly that is what you want to do.

Re: Saves

If you want, before a really critical turn, (like pretender doing death match maybe ?), "save and quit". Then go into your Dominions 2 folder and Copy then Paste the game folder(the one you named your new game, not Dom2, http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif , to your desktop. Restart, play the turn, if result sucked for you, "Quit, Delete game folder in dom2, copy in the one you pasted to desktop, restart, replay, etc." Good luck.

Re: Saves

FWIW, this is something I *really* like about Dom2. I can't help but reload a saved game and see if things turn out differently (in MoM, AoW etc.), and I really like that fact that it's not available in Dom2. Yeah I know it's technically possible by backing up dirs etc., but not having it on the main menu is a disincentive that really works for me.

Re: Saves

Phil, I'm sorry but you won't be able to do that with the current setup, you have to 'restart' the game.

To do that redownload or recopy over the walkthrough folder to where it goes in your Dom2 folder and restart the game.

http://www.maladjustite.com/dom2_walkthru.html

Redownload the link saying "walkthrough.zip" and reinstall it. It will probably ask you to overwrite the game and you should probably say "Yes" then after that is done, go through the initial walkthrough steps in order to start the game. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

If you just want to start with the same Pretender/Race in the game that you had, you just have to create a game with Jotunheim as Human and it will upload that pretender unless you've tried to create another one since you've installed the walkthrough.

Re: Saves

Indeed, an awesome feature, especially since all the orders you make during the turn can be altered before they take effect, except for alchemy. All turn-based games with save feature simply become standard "try-fail-reload-retry-succeed" procedures.
