MP server test
Howdy. I am experimenting running a Dom2 server on my new network. I would appreciate if folks would try joining my game at
i.p.: zombie.dyndns.org port: 4040 and reporting their success or failure here. I want to make sure I have my firewall and so forth configured correctly. If this works out, I may be able to host on a regular basis. Thanks! |
Re: MP server test
I've connected without any problems. It works fine http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: MP server test
Thanks for the feedback.
I have noticed the following from time to time with Dominions2. If I leave the computer running idle for extended periods of time after playing Dom2 with either the monitor off, or the screensaver on, the system is locked up the next time I try to wake the monitor. (Black screen, keyboard locked, have to "hard" reboot.) That's why you can't connect now, so that tells me I need to find a way around my "idle lockup" problem. Has anyone ever heard of this? |
Re: MP server test
I'm assuming you're running XP. What other items do you have to suspend on idle eg Network card etc. I'd be tempted to not have anything suspend. See if it then locks up and work from there.

Re: MP server test
Try to disable screensaver, auto-logout, harddrive autoshutting and any other power saving modes.

Re: MP server test
Thanks for the tips--I discovered the culprit! I THOUGHT I had disabled everything, but while I had disabled the screensaver at one point, I left some power management stuff on (plus, my fiancée had installed some software that turned the screensaver back on).
Everything's off now (power management, screensaver) and I am running a test game, which has been working fine for the past day or so. Should be ready to host in a day or so. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif |
