Stupidest / Funniest spellcasting AI
 

I just had a real doozy, playing Machaka in a SP game.

I've just recruited an army and sent it from my capitol, so I don't have orders scripted yet.

Next turn - an Abyssian tries to assassinate my Black Sorceror, who has no bodyguards. The sorceror casts Ironskin right away - so far, so good.

Then - the next 2 or 3 castings are ... rage. As if the assassin wasn't already pissed off and trying to kill him already - not like there's anyone else around. "Assassin, this is not a chawade. You need total concentwation to kill me. Once more, this time, with feeling!" (Misquote from "Kentucky Fried Movie", containing hilarious spoof of "Enter the Dragon".)

So, the now pissed off, enraged assassin charges, and poisons the sorceror who finally remembers that he has a direct damage spell and kills the assassin.

But of course - the poison is still grinding away after the assassin is gone. Happily, the sorceror turns into a giant spider, and winds up robust enough to survive the poison.

Still - casting 'rage' at an assassin has to be pretty far up on the "stupid AI" scale. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Yeah, that's pretty hilarious. I can imagine how that works, the offending sorceror repeatedly taunting the assassin into a blind rage where he lashes out at the only thing available....the sorceror. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Great movie. Another character of that movie usually creeps into my games. Whenever I get a flying indi or play caelum, I usually refer to the flyers that tie up the rear as "danger seekers" screeming insults as they hop right into the fray (to get slaughtered usually).

I just had a mage do a similar thing during an assasination attempt - some weak defensive spell, followed by 2 castings of rage on the Abysian flying assasin.

Fortunately, the mage was the Angel you get from the Heavenly Host spell, so next round she whipped out her Flaming Ginsu and put an end to the battle. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Perhaps the most damaging, inane spellcasting I've had was a communion master of some sort (a while ago, don't even recall the nation I was playing, but probably Pythium) casting Phoenix Pyre -- which carries over to the communicants as well -- and then promptly falling over dead, possibly from previously taking a poison hit or something like that.
Boom. Explosion hurts those nearby, including communicants. Boom. Boom. More boom. Boom. Aiiiiiiie!

My favorite: A Mictlan Priest King casting Heal on a nearby blood slave who had been slightly wounded. The poor girl was sacrificed just one round later.

And of course, there's the necromancers and demonologists casting Drain Life or Leeching Touch on their fellow mages - evil, selfish guys!
