"If you could have..." Issue #2

You are payed to assassinate a werewolf deep within a dark forest. You carry only a dagger for aditional protection. Which spell would you use?

Remember to state your reason! Use your imagination and be creative!

Air - Shocking Grasp: Transfer electricity into your enemy.

Astral - Twist Fate: Gaurantee the first strike upon you will be negated wich will allow for a clumsy, but swift direct attack on your enemy.

Earth - Fists of Iron: Create metal pistons to bludgeon your enemy.

Fire - Burning Hands: Burn the flesh of your enemy.

Death - Decay: Cause your enemy to decay... and run like hell!

Nature - Tangle Vines: Cause your enemy to be unable to move so you can make a quick strike.

Water - Slime: Cause your enemy to move slower and be more prone to attack.

With twist of fate, I will be able to have at least one direct attack.

I think decay would be most amusing. I wouldn't actually *USE* it for the battle, but it would definitely be amusing to watch somebody who annoys you shrivel up and die in a gruesome way.

you still didnt give really enough information for me to make an informed decision, such as the following:

How powerfull is the werewolf? (In a battle with just the dagger and no spells, about how often would I be expected to survive? (note, survive, not nessicarily 'win'))

How much "additional" damage does the shocking grasp, fists of iron, etc give? same with the +to hit with twist fate...

BUT, in the absence of this information, this is what I'd do:

If I am severely underpowered vs the werewolf, then either Fists of Iron or Shocking Grasp, as even if the initial effects dont imobalize the werewolf, there is still the additional benifits to the dagger.

If we are on basically equal footing, then Slime, as this doubles my odds vs the werewolf in the long run.

If both of us are so weak that a small wind would blow us over, then Tangle Vines, because that first hit is the killer.... or maybe Twist fate.. maybe that if the werewolf is weak but hard to hit.

Note that at *NO* time would I ever pick Decay, as having the werewolf run away is worse than paralying him, and there are no benifits to the dagger...

probably wouldnt pick burning hands either, unless for some reason the werewolf was suseptable to fire.... as the bonuses by that spell are weaker than Shocking Grasp and Fists of Iron.

Okay, end of over-analysis. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I think what he meant was that *YOU* were supposed to run like hell after causing your opponent to start decaying. Even if that's not what he meant, it would still be more amusing to watch a decaying werewolf run around as his rots and falls apart. And who said anything about using it on the wolf? It's more fun to use it on people who annoy you.

What about the "Brave Sir Robin" option - Ah greetings Mr. Werewolf, PLEEEEEASE do not torture me today, I think I must run away to my kind and loving family right now! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Oh damn, this poll is messed up. I just realized I made decay the crappiest spell by giving each spell 60% chance of disabling......

Stupidness!

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Jaytou was the one who suggested to give statistical value to the spells. Without thinking, I just went ahead and did that. Yeahh.... And so if I was to provide all that information with this poll, it would become a statistical battle.

Should I call someone to delete this thread and/or post a message, "IGNORE"? I'll try to think up something better.

Edit: You know, I'll just try to fix up this information. Hopefully everyone who voted thus far will still like their choice.
Edit: I'll make sure this doesn't happen next time.

EDITEDITEDIT: I'm just going to totally change this. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif

No one has chosen Shocking Grasp, I wonder why.
