Newbie PBEM question

Hi,

A friend (Steve) and I recently each bought this game. We would like to play a PBEM game (just the two of us) against a bunch of AI opponents. I'm not quite clear on how to do this. I read the FAQ and searched the forum but some things are still unclear. Can someone help?

Here is what I think I know. Assume that I will "host" the game:
1) Steve creates a pretender and sends his "man.2h" file from the "newgods" folder to me.
2) I put the "man.2h" file from Steve into my "newgods" folder, overwriting any currently created pretender from for man.
3) I create my Abysian pretender, thus creating an "Abysia.2h" file in my "newgods" folder.
4) I create a new game with Man and Abysia set to Human and some other races set to AI.

Now what? This is where I'm not sure about what to do next.

Thanks!
John

Re: Newbie PBEM question

The manual on page 7 details this very exactly.
You create that game, then you send your friend his man.trn file. He plays his turn, you play yours. He always sends you a .2h file, which you stick in your MeAndSteve folder (or however you call that game). When you have played your turn too, you "host", then you send Steve his new .trn file, etc. etc.

But if your question was: how can we set up the game so that we two humans play together in league against 7 AI nations -- I dont know, I dont think that is possible. I dont think you can get the AIs to cooperate. You also cant set up victory conditions which allows a team to win.

So if the latter was your question, I am afraid this will be dissapointing.
If the former, I hope that helped; otherwise, just let us know and we can help more.

TT, thanks for the reply. I bought a house a few weeks ago and my manual is still somewhere in the boxes so I don't have access to it. Thanks for the help!

Re: Newbie PBEM question

It is possible to have AI nations cooperate with each other. And I think you can set two player nations as allies. It involves editing the map/scenario settings. I noticed it in the instructions for map editing, meaning you would have to modify the map that you wanted to play on before trying to actually start a game. But I was just browsing that stuff, so I don't really know the details of how to go about it.
