question on joining game Online: "Start Game" button?

When I join a game Online, I am given the option to "Start Game". If I do this, does it actually advance the game, disabling other players from joining? I would have thought this was the host's job. What is the function of this button?
Thanks, Merry

That's exactly what it does. Never push this button, unless you're supposed to. If you don't know whether you should push it, you shouldn't.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">It can be set to be not there for anyone but the host but thats up to the host to do when they start the server.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That's not really a doable thing on Mosehansen, where most of the games will probably be at, so you'll just have to hope nobody presses the button prematurely, or the game is borked and has to be restarted as a result. Basically, never-push-this-button.

Thanks, Gandalf. How does the host disable this button? And, what is its function??

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">It is to start the game. In a game between friends it just makes it easy to have the Last person start off the game.

Turning it off in is the comman_line_switches.txt in the docs directory.

Then after everyone has selected they would hit the start or restart the server with fewer functions. Its alittle hrder to do on an automated system like the web-page one.

I suppose you could kill the process after doing sign-in, and restart it again WITHOUT the switch so that the game could be started....

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I would probably set it up for the maker of the game to be able to hit a button and restart the host with a game-start set of commands and a quit. Then restart the script again in minimum mode.
