My personal reading suggestions to newbies

Hi all,

I'm still close to be a newbie player and I well remember the initial difficutly to understand the game (still I have a lot of problem to understand most part of this game).

So here is my personal suggestion for interesting reading to understand the game:

1) The game manual: it gives the basic idea of how the games works

2) The Saber Cherry Newbie Guide that at the momento you can read herehttp://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=74;t=000172;p=2

but that is slowly going down deep lost in the thread

3) The Zen FAQ http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin...;f=74;t=002068

After that you could have a clear idea about the game but you need to know soemthing more to understand how to really play well ... so I suggest

4) Grab the Reference Sheet that help to look/see the difference between the races/themes (I don't know if is still somewhere on the web) or take a look to the unit DB
http://www.freewebs.com/dominions2/unitattributes.zip

5) The Magic Item Quick Reference http://www.maladjustite.com/dom2/MIQRv30.pdf
to be able to know well what you leaders needs/could have

also usefull is the MagicBoost file by aldin
http://www.freewebs.com/dominions2/magiboost.xls

6) go searching in this forum (using the serach) about the single problem you could run on

7) finally ask here if there is something you can't understand

good luck to all newbies .... this is a really great game if you are able to pass over the initial problem in understandig it!

Re: My personal reading suggestions to newbies

I have found the magic boost file to be extremely useful. I have it printed out by my computer so I can reference it easily any time.

You can quckly determine what you need... and in what combination/order you need to build items to get a mage up to a certain level.

Very handy!
