TWIMC: Cradle map

I just wanted to express my appreciation for this great map to its designer (PhilD?). It has rekindled my interest in Doms2, and it's a real joy to play. It has everything, choke points, points of interest, strategic locations, varied terrain... I've been battling for the SE mountain passes for at least 10 turns in a great tug-of-war, and I really have a feeling of strategic importance and purpose.

Bravo! More please (when you have time, of course... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ).

Cheers,

I'm not the designer; all I did was correct a few "errors" (like incredibly bad starting positions) in the .map file.

The map is the work of Jason Lutes, IIRC. And Last I checked, it was even correctly credited on the Illwinter site http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Yes, that map of Jason's is awesome, isn't it? A few flaws in the "dot map" information, but it seems difficult to avoid in a map of any size larger than 2 provinces. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

[Rather like the saying about any decent program having at least one input, one output, and one bug - any decent map has at least one broken neighbor, start position, or terrain type.]

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Ah, yes, I've missed the original credit next to the title, and only read yours. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/blush.gif My apologies to the author, Jason Lutes, and to you as well.

Yes, I've noticed that my dominion seems to be popping up in some strange places around the map, but nevertheless, it's awesome! I can actually fight a front war, that is, have fronts, instead of feeling like my empire is a porous sponge - I can try to contain the conflict, fling everything into a fray if it's about a critical location or a choke point, think what to do next geographically, plus it looks beautiful. The mountain passes are in complete shambles from province bLasters by both me and the AI, and soon we're going to fight for the bridges west of them. I've also encountered a surprising amounts of national troops from the AI - don't know if IW did some improvements in that regard, but in this game it certainly seems that way.

Off to do some great gaming. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Cheers all,
