I am a BAD boy!

Am I mean or what? I took the sallega homeworld thru insurrection (puppet government) and when their fleet finally beat down the defense...I pulled the plug and junked the entire planet..no facilities or population.

now they have to rebuild it http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/tongue.gif

Homeworlds should be immune to PPP.

I think this won't be allowed with the upcoming patch. You won't be allowed to abandon a planet until the population is below a certain (low) amount. You could still scrap the facilities, though, which would still be a tough blow.

I don't know if any planets (even homeworlds) should be totally immune, but it should be harder to
get planets to revolt if they are happy, and/or populous, and/or have troops, and/or have warships in orbit, etc. And they should always form their own "empire" first. And if they surrender to anyone, it probably shouldn't be to the empire with whom they were just at war. Realistically, they would look for an ally. The other players should get a chance to ask for surrender, or offer an alliance, before the revolters meekly surrender to the "bad guys."

I don't think this is relevant to PPP - PPP is not getting the population to revolt (although they should if you think about it). It places YOUR PEOPLE as rulers of the planet - with control of any military stuff, etc. The revolt item IIRC is Anarchy Groups which is an Intel Lvl II operation. When you do one of those sucessfully, there is just a chance they will join your empire. There is always a chance they will create a new independent empire.

The idea behind PPP is making the planet believe that their own empire is wrong, and that they should abandon them, or join the instigating empire.

I think when this happens, all the Ships and Sattellites and Starbases should cahnge command as well!!

If you can convince several billion people to change their minds, surely you can convince a few ship crews to change as well!!

(side thought: this doesn't happen already does it?)

Re: I am a BAD boy!

Markavaians, not sure about that. They only times I have seen a ship crew join me (intel wise anyway) was through crew insurrection. I got a modest size fleet that way too http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Yeah, this is how it should work, but I don't believe it does. If you read the description, its something like "install government officials sympathetic to your causes" or something to that effect. In my experience, PPP (if it succeeds) ALWAYS brings just a planet over to YOUR empire. Anarchy Groups (when successful) only SOMETIMES brings a planet over to your empire, most times makes it independant. Crew Insurrection (when successful) brings a ship over to your empire - I have never had this Intel op fail, it always seems to work.

IMO, there are flaws in the system. PPP is TOO EASY. I routinely take down sizeable empires in 10 - 15 turns using it. Crew Insurrection should NOT work on ships with a Master Computer - that should be a"Computer Combat" item instead of just a Computer Virus. However, all in all, it (Intel) is a pretty good aspect of the game. In fact, Crew Insurrection is a very popular form of "research" for me. There are some areas I never research - I just steal the ships and analyze them....

Re: I am a BAD boy!

I've not actually played SE4 enough to do that yet!

I'm not too good at organising stuff, so when concentrating on Research, I switch Intel off, and when I want to concentrate on Intel, I switch all techs on, and kick computer ***. . .

Do you have the latest patch? I'm sure PPP got harder to convert planets to your side after I installed it.
