BE Ermor Heroes..?
 

Just wanted to know what they were, as BE Ermor is fast becoming one of my favorite nations.

I've so far found two, the C'tissian High Thaumaturge and the Scythe Wielder.

C'tissian guy is SSDDDDUUU, and the Scythe Wielder is SSDDDUUU, and has a Scythe of Slaying...?

My big question was whether or not the Grand Thaumaturge is a Hero... mainly, is there any way for BE Ermor to get an Unholy-4 priest before Prophetizing besides Apostacizing an Unholy-5 priest (Communion will do it in a battle, but I'm looking for outside battle)? And what kind of success rate can you get with Apostacy?

I'll keep my 'Hero' game going for the moment.

(That's a game that has Turmoil-3, Luck-3, Orania Indep9, start with 9 Provinces, do nothing but raise PD through the roof... basically, trolling for Heroes.)

If I find any more, I'll post them.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Magic resistance negates, so it depends totally on the MR of the target. The only other way that I know of for BE Ermor to get an unholy 4 priest is the sword of injustice.

Interesting, a Ring of Wizardry will boost Unholy priest power (at least on a Mound Fiend it will... just checked), although it will not boost Holy power. This is obviously rather expensive, however. A Ring of Sorcery will not boost Unholy.

Apostasy, if memory serves, is once of those 'magic resistance negates easily' spells. It'll help to have Communion boosting and also to have penetration items -- Spell Focus, Rune Smasher.

Then, bar communion you can also try:

- Ring of Wizardry.

- Crystal Shield.

- Power of the Spheres.

- Suiciding an heroic prophet, and calling him back with Ritual of Rebirth after you've appointed his successor.

BTW, instead of gaining extra unholy levels you can try grabing extra death magic with Twiceborn'ed candidates to 'suicide' missions - a bargain at 10 death gems when compared to empowerment. And I'm not even talking about the benefit of having a tougher, upkeep-free mage. ;-)

Something else I've noted is that BE Ermor CAN get Holy priests, it's just hard. Random Celebrants, for example, come in as Holy. Does anyone know if Summoned Holy Priests come in as Holy or not? Also, are there any Summonable Holy 4 Priests? I doubt it, but just thought I'd check...

Having Forged the Sword of Injustice in a Test game, and having given it to an Unholy-4 Priest, I checked their Reanimation. It lists Wights, but gets Lictors (3 of them). I was sort of hoping for Archers, considering the difficulty of getting it, but oh well. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Now if only BE had a cheap communicant, I might play them more.

Well, I like that they get Astral and Death. Kinda disappointed in their mage quality, but it could be worse.

The main plus for me is the idea that I get Death magic, a Growth scale, and access to Blood magic. That's just really nice, as a set. I don't think anyone can do Undead-patrolled Blood hunting like BE Ermor.

They don't get cheap communicants, but OTOH they all get Nether spells, which are powerful, and with a large enough communion, they can all apostacize. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
