Mosehansen server problems - what gives?
 

Hi,

I'm playing my first game on the Mosehansen server and we're on about turn 10 or so. It is very very difficult to connect to the server to do my turns. The game hangs when "waiting for game info" almost every time that I try to connect. This wasn't a problem a few days ago when the game started but in the Last 4 or 5 days I have barely been able to get my turn in after many many tries to connect. I have tried connecting from a friend's house on DSL, from my house on cable modem, from work on a T3, and get the same problem from anywhere so I don't think it's my connection speed.

Are there any tricks to avoid this problem? I see other players in the game getting their turns done with no problem when I view the game on the Mosehansen web site....I'm always the Last to get my turn done. What am I doing wrong that I can't get connectedc? The turn executes in about 3 hours and I seriously doubt that I'll be able to get this turn in as I've tried at least 10 times already and failed to connect Last night and this morning.

I know it kinda of a pain. But its takes less than a minute for each attempt.

My method for windows.

I am not able to CTRL-ATL-DEL to kill Dominions when it is running in full screen mode.

My solutions is to first change Dominions to run in a window (you can do this through the options menu) or by hitting Alt+Enter.

Then try to connect to the game. If it doesn't connect within 10 seconds or so. Then you can force quit dominions (CTRL-ATT-DEL) or right click on the taskbar icon and select close.

Then immediately try again. I've never had to try more than 4 times to get into the game. Usually it works on the 2nd or 3rd try.
