What happens if ... ? (a couple specific game questions)
1- A mage that already "Lost one eye" puts on an Eye of Accuracy ? Does he become blind http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif ? It'll make sense he put it in his "lost" eyeslot ...
2- A diseased, Twiceborn mage dies from the disease ? Does he become a Wight as should be ? (I've had strange experience with death from disease, in one case my stealthy prophet died this way while in enemy territory and I was never able to appoint a new prophet thereafter) |

You do have to make sure he dies within your dominion for this to work, however, and disease is definitely a bad way to do it, as he'll keep his afflictions gained while being diseased. |
Re: What happens if ... ? (a couple specific game questions)
Thanks for the answers Norfleet !
And about my Twiceborn mage, it wasn't a "strategy" to have him diseased : he was my RB Prenteder and got the disease from a site on his second province search on turn 12 http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif ... I saved him with a Regen ring when he had only 2 hp left, and he cast Twiceborn thereafter http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif There is some risk involved if I let him die however, lest him get Feebleminded or Mute http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif |

From the
comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.strategic newsgroup: posted by Leejay Wu and responded by Jachues Vidal >> Oh, and one might note that Twiceborn works on the >> Void Lurker, as it's alive. Just don't forget that if >> you want to try this, you need both death magic (for the >> Twiceborn) and water magic (so your new divine wight >> mage doesn't immediately drown). Then you get a 0-pt >> 15/path astral 3+ undead mage with all slots, cold >> immunity, and chill effect as your pretender. > > Just FYI, not being lifeless also allows your Lurker to cast > Transformation if it's lacking in death magic. Although you'd better > have some way to cure an occasional feeblemind, and a decent stock of > nature gems to repeat the process in case it turns into a wimpy > Dragonfly ;-) This went straight into my tactics file. Choose cheap, buy scales, then change your god into something else. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif [ June 01, 2004, 15:21: Message edited by: Gandalf Parker ] |

Hey guys, we've found something to make *better* RMs and Immobile pretenders ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: What happens if ... ? (a couple specific game questions)
Old news. I've been fooling with that for awhile now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif Or did you mean you found something new?
Twiceborn will work on your pretender. Ritual of Rebirth, however, won't (despite that the flavor text of the mummy indicates a "dead god or giant", which you would think implies that a god could be mummified in such a manner....) |
Re: What happens if ... ? (a couple specific game questions)
I think the "we've" found was the important part. Of course others knew it (after all I was posting other peoples tips) but now its a "we" thing. (or did you mean that you posted that tip earlier?)

Re: What happens if ... ? (a couple specific game questions)
Does Twiceborn work on pretenders ??
I think not, and it shouldn't anyway, IMHO. Better kill him off fast and have your priest call him back - you'll only loose some magic, but dying from disease will get him 2..4 additional afflictions most of which will not vanish by themselves. Or even better - keep him alive and have him healed(GoH, Chalice, Fairy Queen). |

And having him called back is a killer for a 6 path-2 RB ! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon8.gif As for healing him fully it ain't that easy with Abysia, Demons don't heal http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif |
