Downloads and various websites
 

For everyone who is making mods and maps for general consumption, has the practice been to put them on Illwinter's site?

Or is there a spread of personal webpages where folks have been putting up their stuff to share?

Maybe we can put a bunch of links in this post to have them all in one place?

Just a thought.

It's pretty much personal preference on the part of the creator. IW's site gets the most traffic, of course. My own site likely gets the next-largest amount of traffic, and I have links to all the other major Dom 2 sites so that folks can find anything they need that might not be on my site.

There's already a sticky thread at the top of this forum that lists Dom 2 fan sites, so there's no need to duplicate it in another thread.

Folks who know me (and my site) will email me when they'd like for me to host something, or update a file. If you haven't already visited it, you should. (hint) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I had this vague feeling that there were mods and stuff scattered all about the place.

The main reason I created the site is so that other (newbie) players wouldn't have to go through what I did to find all the tools and info they might want to help them play the game. If a file's home isn't on my site then I have a link to the site where it resides. (Many of the files that are duplicate-hosted on my site are on my site because at some time in the past those files were temporarily unavailable elsewhere and I put them up by request from players.) I try to provide hosting for Dom2 modders who don't have webspace themselves, and to be a convenient place to find useful links without needing to dig through this forum. (At the time I created my site, Zen was not a moderator and had not created the now-stickied thread with links to Dom 2 fansites.)

I think the stickie at the top of the forum that says "links" is for that purpose.
