An appology, and a warning

I'm sorry to have to say this, but I am getting out of pretty much all of my Dominion II games. I had no idea of the time that turns start to take as the games enters their meat and potatoes phase. In the Last few turns I have been playing only pro forma - and yes, having suffered bad defeats in most of the games may be to blame for my stopping playing. But mostly it is because I
have been spending more and more of my vacation indoors, in front of a laptop.

I am told the right thing to do is to advertise the games for substitution.

All of them are minor, minor Empires:
Ulm on Faerun (fighting Ermor to a standstill, but Jotun in the east is unstoppable)
Vanheim on DjToll's Karan adventure (never grew much, Mictlan has very much won the game)
Vanheim on Pascentiful2 (small, insignificant, Caelum is growing out of control)
Vanheim on PainOfHumanOverstuffed (weak, about to be devoured)

All of the games are on the mosehansen server. I am getting out... If no one wants them, and I do not see why anyone would, I will just switch them to AI. It seems to be pretty simple, really.

This is an great game, but it requires a level of commitment that I cannot afford. I am sorry for the inconvenience I will cause.

Heh. I've been in the same situation - at one point I had ten games going, and it started to take most of a day to play them.

Never again, says I, not even when I'm unemployed with time to kill. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Have you considered getting into just one or two games? Maybe ones that are on a 48 hour schedule? I've found them to be pretty sane and relaxing, since even in the late game, you're only talking an hour or so every 2 days.

Actually, the one game I will stick with is on a 48 hour schedule. I have to admit, when I joined it, I was thinking "what kind of wuss plays these". Well, now I know. The kind of wuss I am :-(

May I suggest you to change the title of the thread to somewhat seeking for sub?

I know exactly what you mean Yevlina. I'm in six games now, which was not enough to sate me when the games were new. Now I am having trouble keeping up with them.

I've heard this a very common newbie mistake. Maybe there ought to be a little warning somewhere in the newbie threads. Early on turns take 5 - 10 minutes. Later in the game you find it takes well over an hour to take care of everything properly.

Five or Six hours a day, 7 days a week is difficult to manage if you have other commitments.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Me, too http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I'm actually growing fond of the once-per-week game that I have been participating in since the beginning. But 48-hours is the painlimit for me, at least after turn 10 or so.

Yvelina, are you intending to take further turns in the Pain of Human game?

I can set you to AI if you like.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Rabe
