How do you destroy the Monolith?

I control almost the entire map but I cannot destroy the Monolith pretender. Any tips?

Monoliths have a weakness against point-blank annihilation. They're no harder to kill than any other prot-30 thing with hundreds of hitpoints, with the added benefit that a monolith is unable to strike back at you, and can only cast a limited number of spells before it passes out, which hurts its protection values. Anything which is armor-piercing or armor-negating will rip it up easily.

Slap it with the Staff of Kurgi, or Magebane. Or shoot it with a Black Bow of Botulf. Or use Gate Cleavers and other fun toys combined with Curse. Or use physically strong units with Weapons of Sharpness. Or even a horde of Manikin might be able to kill it via armor-negating fatigue attacks. Or just preach it to death...

'Rock to Mud' (Alteration 10) works quite well on Monoliths. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Or even below Monoliths -> 'Leaning Tower of Pisa' syndrome: the nastiest affliction a Monolith will ever get! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That causes the Monolith to suffer the "Limp" affliction.

Well, I finally had to preach his *** out of existance after countless losses of Avalon Knights and ethereal crossbow wielding units . l. .

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Personally, I would have tried Gate Cleaver. Ethereal Crossbow is nice instant death if save fails, but 29 + strength points of Armor-negating damage should do pretty well, too. Cleaver is harder to make, though. And the commander would have to survive to hit the Monolith, and survive any spells it might have cast...

I actually assassinated one successfully once (I didnt even expect to get him, there were 20+ commanders in the fort at the time) with a Slayer armed with a rod of inceneration and a lifelong protection and some other goodies.
