RT: Abbreviations galore

Your recon LOA is PL Parrot. You will have an A-10 platoon OPCON to you 30 after LD. Be careful. You're looking at at least one platoon of well dug-in Infantry and 2 platoons of tanks with some decent ADA and Air support.

Trying to descipher the mission description in Raging Tiger. Maybe one of you military guys could let me in on what some of these abbreviations mean.

LOA is PL Parrot
*Edit: LOA = Limit of Advance. I think this means I'm allowed to deploy my scouts a bit further into enemy territory. But what does PL mean anyway?

OPCON = ?
30 after LD (Line of Departure). 30 what, minutes?

I like the new mission briefing movie. Much much easier to grasp than the old ATF text briefing. Now I just need to learn what these different nato symbols mean, so I know what kind of enemies are supposed to be where.

Johan,

The military lingo is a little more cryptic than the 'God Names' in Dominions II.

Seriously, the game actual ships with FM 101-5-1, Operational Terms and Symbols, in PDF form so that you can use the 'Find' tool to jump to any acronyms you don't know. It also comes with FM 3-90, tactics, which gives you a good primer in army tactics.

I guess I have to take a look at the ATF CD then and see if there is something similar on it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

ATF also ships with FM 101-5-1.

BTW, OPCON means "Operational Control". It means you are allowed to position and fire the mortars.
