Our Link Library\'s Are No Longer Valid
 

As many of you have most likely discovered by now, all of our collecitive link libraries are no longer valid. This has to do with the forum change and most likely could not be helped.

Link Libraries are lists of important links that have been collected over time and posted in various locations and threads for the convience of members. Most effected are our strategy, modding, story, and other master threads. I am hopeful that we can rebuild these link libraries in time, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you find a link to an old thread, one that fits into these catagories, PLEASE POST IT HERE.

I'm also looking to see what I can do here. I have a feeling it has to do with some difference between UBB Code here and in the old forum software.

You are talking about links to threads, correct? If so, it's seems to be an indexing issue - as near as I could tell the old forums used the forum ID and the thread number to locate the thread; the new forum seems to use the forum ID (which migrated OK; it's now Board=UBB23 for SEIV, where it used to be f=23), but instead of using thread ID's to locate info, it seems to use post id's. I'm not sure how one would go about building a wrapper to fix the old Version links - some kind of translation table, I suppose - but that appears to be the problem.

Oh...... *Insert Explicit language here*

That means all those story links i searched for from the past year are no longer functional. Which means i'm going to have to search for a lot of them to get up on Spaceempires.net again. That also means SJ's story page links won't work and signatures won't either... That is not good.... There might be a way to fix this, let me think about it as you guys work. I may be able to unload the Posts table, do a find a replace on www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin/blahblah, and replace it with what the links would be on todays forum. It will take a few days at the least to do that.
