Eater of the Dead?
According to the summoned creater quick reference, the Eater of the Dead goes through four phases of growth, ending with "Unfettered (Lose Control)".
How does this work? What advances it from one level to the next, and what does "Lose Control" mean? Sounds scary! Oops -- there is somethingon this in the forums already. The Eater grows when it eats enough corpses. But, how many is enough? And what is meant by "Variable" hitpoints? Merry |
Re: Eater of the Dead?
It needs quite a few corpses, I think. Once it becomes Unfettered, it becomes an independent commander.
Hit points increase with its feeding, even past Unfettered if memory serves. I think I once messed around with an Eater of the Dead in an SP game and got it to exceed 1000 hp as an Unfettered feasting around an enemy's capital. |
Re: Eater of the Dead?
When you say Independent Commander do you mean "can hold items" or "out of your control, under AI control and can attack you"?
Thanks |
Re: Eater of the Dead?
"out of your control, under AI control and can attack you"

Re: Eater of the Dead?
Both. But the only way for it to get such items is if you have used Gift of Reason, then given it items when it was still under your control.
Or if he can pick up items from things he kills. Is it possible for independents to do this? |
Re: Eater of the Dead?
Yep.

Re: Eater of the Dead?
For extra fun, Gift of Reason the Eater of the Dead and give him the Gift of Kurgi to fill one of his (two, IIRC) misc slots. It's not just an Eater of the Dead, it's a -flying- Eater of the Dead.
It's not very practical, perhaps, but it may be bizarre enough to amuse. |
