Newbie questions... I swear I searched first :)

Well, while I wait for SE:V I decided to show my support and buy Starfury. The demo was pretty slick, all things concidered. I knew I had a decent game on my hands when I thought it was around 10pm and looked up to 11:30pm.....

I do have some questions, I should probabaly wait for the full Version to arrive, but I'm impatient http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The action seems a bit fast. Is there a way to slow it down? My destroyer handles more like a fighter and I like to slow down the action (ala Star Fleet Battles) and do a bit of thinking.

So far I've only had a ship with forward firing weapons, but how would I know when the other ship was off my left side anyway? The only view that seems to work is forward facing. Again, ala SFB, can I lock the camera on my target so I know when he is in which arc? I see how to manually (F1, etc) change views, but in the heat of these way to fast battles, I can't keep switching views to find him...

Thanks.

I don't know with the demo but in the full Version you can change your camera angle by pressing F1-F8. They toggle between different angles. F8 is the one where the camera tracks the target. F5 is from back. F7 is the normal top-down view. I think they're the most useful views. F1 which is a view from top can also be useful sometimes.

Also if you don't know where your enemy is toggle the radar range to smaller so you can track the enemy. This is done by pressing the "r" key.

In the full Version (I'm not sure if you need a patch) the target is also shown with a arrow either in left or right side on the screen showing which way to turn.

To slow down action press "-" to slow down time. Press "+" to speed up time. You can slow down time to 1/8 from normal or speed it up to 8x normal. Or you can simply press space to pause the game.

That's about that. I hope this helps.

F8 was the key, thanks!
Slowing down time below 1 doesn't work in the demo, when the full Version shows up, I'll assume it will work then.
Thanks again.

also, if you assign your side/aft firing weapons to a different weapon slot, you can see if it can fire or not and thus you know if it is on your side or not http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif (unless it's too far away ofcourse)
edit : 1/8x and 8x speed settings and target arrows were added in later patches.
